Stoned

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

I woke up one morning this week and remembered a dream experience I had that involved a stone.  It was a very unusual stone, rectangular in shape.  One of the long sides was perfectly flat, as if it had been sliced and polished.  The bottom (polished) edge was straight, and the top edge was rounded like a bullnose.  The stone was a very deep blue/purple, and the non-polished long side was a light chocolate brown, almost like the powdered cocoa you see on certain dessert cakes.  There was some type of etching on this side, which I couldn’t read, but the symbols that were etched into the stone with a silver-gray, almost paint-like substance, and were easy to see.  I held it in my hand and was doing something with it, but I wasn’t sure what it was.  The stone had a very interesting wavy energy to it, and as soon as I touched it, I could feel it.  I showed it to my wife, who liked it immediately. If you’ve ever sat with a pyramid on your head for a few minutes, you have a good idea of what the wavy energy vibration was like.  I was told that I should keep it by my bed, and saw it near the foot of the bed.

As I woke up, I got dimensions and other information.  The stone was about 6-8″ long, 2.5-3″ wide, and about an inch thick.  The sides were rounded, and after a quick lookup on google, learned that they were a half bullnose.  I also got something about a 37.5 degree angle, but no further detail.  I tried looking up information on it, but was only somewhat successful.  There are isoceles triangles with 37.5, 37.5 and 105 degree angles, and to me, they look a good bit like pyramids, but that’s about it.

There was a second stone as well.  It was round, about the size of a softball but would fit in your hand comfortably.  It wasn’t perfectly round, as it had at least one flat area to it.  It was a light sky blue and yellow-green (chartreuse), and the colors were swirled together a little bit, not distinctly separate.

I got some paper out and started drawing what I thought it looked like.  I draw like a 5-year old.  With the help of a little drawing software, I came up with the stunning art work you see here.  The Louvre called and said they wanted to replace the Mona Lisa with my beautiful masterpiece, but I turned down the offer.

Anyhow, after a little while, I got two words associated with the stones – Arkenham and Celebrinite.  I didn’t find any good information on either word.

I’ve never seen or heard of stones like these before.  If you have any ideas about it, I’d like to know.

Medium’s Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

From a mediumship perspective, here are some things I’m thankful for on Thanksgiving:

1. The presence of God in my life.  That presence that lets me know that life is a forward and uplifting progression towards goodness and spirituality, even when it does not feel that way in a particular moment.

2. The Very Important People (VIPs) in my life.  My wife, children, parents, family, friends.  Strictly speaking, they are largely unrelated to mediumship, but nonetheless, they are very important.  Experiences with them through time have taught me valuable lessons about life, love, and spirituality, which are important ingredients in mediumship.

3.  Assistance from my spirit folks.  They have provided guidance, assurance, and the butt-kicking (when necessary) to help me progress in life.

4. Communication with my spirit folks.  We work together to communicate better and better through mediumship.  I am thankful that they listen to what I have to say, and are willing to work with me.

5. The trust that I’ve developed with my spirit folks.  Building trust involves a lot of work, patience, and desire.  It requires a lot of investment from their side.  And it’s a choice on their part, not a given.  I am grateful that were willing, and appreciate the positive effects of it that show up in my mediumship and in my life.

6. The good works that I’ve been involved with via mediumship.  Healing.  Message work.  Readings.  Writing.  Channeling.  Spirit removal (Ghostbusting).  Guiding and teaching others.  All of these are rooted in goodness, are satisfying to be involved in, and are tightly integrated with the spirits – both my folks and others.

7. My dreamwork.  My dreams are very vivid, and the spirits often use my dream time to take me places, show me things, and teach me things.

8. That I live in a country where mediumship is no longer persecuted.  I am thankful that I do not live in fear of being burned at the stake.

9. That I am a medium.  While one can certainly get along in life without mediumship, I wouldn’t want to.  Mediumship has a mystery and beauty all its own, and I am thankful that it has a presence and a large role in my life.

10. For the people I have met and worked with along the way.  I have learned so many things from my peers in classes.  As time passes, some of them go different ways, and I probably won’t see them again while I’m still here on the Earth plane, but they will always have their special places in my heart.

11. For the future.  Despite what people say about psychics and mediums predicting the future, the future is, by and large, unwritten.  I rather like it that way.  Even without knowing what will happen next, I am sure that the future will involve goodness, spirituality, and mediumship, and for this, I am thankful.

Mediumship within mediumship

It’s pretty common for me to have dreams where I go places in the spirit worlds.  The clarity is high enough that it’s often like waking experience.  Tonight, I went to bed much earlier than usual.  When I do this, I often wake up super early, but I was hoping that I’d sleep through it, as I sometimes do.  No such luck.

I had a dream where I was in a sitting room.  If you’ve been to the Lily Dale hotel, there’s a sitting room with a number of art works and tapestries in it.  This room was similar to it, and had some of that old-fashioned, 1800’s-early 1900’s feel to it.  I was standing in the room, and to my left, there were a number of people, most of which were seated.  My Earth plane teachers Peggy and Paul Spencer, who are now in the spirit world, were amongst them.  The room was busy with mediumistic activity, a combination of various things such as meditation, table tipping, seance with the lights on, etc.  I got the word “Spiritualist” to go along with this.  As I was standing there, I said that I could feel the presence of a lot of other spirits, and I mean LOTS.  I could feel the energy from their presences very close around me, and I was telling the group to my left about it, almost like I was doing message work. Then I woke up.

I think you could say that being in the sitting room was a mediumistic thing, and then perceiving the spirits in the room was also a mediumistic thing.  You might call it mediumship inside mediumship.  Interesting concept.

Someone at the door

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

As a medium, you get used to certain things happening around you that are spiritual in nature.  This morning, I had the following “dream”:

There was this man who lived next door to a family, in a very country setting. I was with him while he went to their house (which was a country/farm house) and he was fixing things in it, trying to make things right.  His presence in the house had an Earth-bound feel to it, like he was coming back from the Spirit world in a way that Earth plane would be able to see him.  We were near the front door, and they had a doorbell that had two wires exposed but unconnected.  I said that he needed a switch to connect them together to make the door ring whenever you pushed the button, but he grabbed them with one hand and put them together, and I could hear the doorbell ring, which was the classic, rich-sounding ding-dong sound.  The people in the house were nearby, and I could feel them there and hear them to some extent, but nothing further.  They were towards the back of the house, and we were in front.  There was a dog in the house as well, who had pointer-like hair, was white with big brown spots, and was as big as a St. Bernard.  As the man and I were standing near the front door, the dog got up on his hind legs and put his paws on the man’s shoulders, from behind, like he were hugging the man or welcoming him.  At that point, the man’s grief was so heavy it weighed like stone on me, and I woke up gasping for breath.

As I tried to understand this experience, I got a number of other details around it.  The man died from an accident, like a random shot fired in the air.  I saw a woman standing in a field, heard the shot, and then I saw the shot come down and slice some skin off the right side of her face.  Picture a big raindrop falling down someone’s face but tearing skin off, and you get the idea.  From the family’s point of view, the man was like somebody’s uncle who lived next door.  The vibration was very close, like family, and everyone got along well, but the man had somehow been bad/mean in his life, hence his grief.  The girl had black hair that was parted in the center but fluffy/curly and thick around the ears and shoulders, with blue eyes, with a rounded full face – quite attractive.  The image of her in the field was black and white.  The first date I got was 1901-1902.  Then I got 1892, which indicated that the girl was ten years old. Something happened to her at that age which was part of his grief.  The first place I got was California, but I also got Santa Fe.  His last name was Whitman.  While he was on the Earth plane, he knew a Hopi indian who tried to help him with his problems, but he never listened to him.  The indian seemed to know that underneath the problems/issues, he wasn’t entirely a bad man.  After he went to the Spirit world, the indian still tried to help him, but he still didn’t listen.

I call these dream experiences.  I’ve had them before.  My role in this one was just to be the medium, a bystander, although in others, I’ve been in the role of one of the participants.  My impression is that in our current time, this person is ringing someone’s doorbell (in the physcal) and the occupants of the house are puzzled because no one is at the door.  They probably recognize this as some type of phenomena, but aren’t sure what to do with it.  I’m not clear about the connection between this man and the inhabitants of the house – it may be through the family, the location of the house, or both.

When it comes to message work, I’m a stickler about knowing where the message goes.  I don’t like giving messages and having someone from the audience step up and claim it as theirs, as it’s not good form.  Be that as it may, I was asked to put this out there.  I’m not sure that the purpose is to give a message to a specific person, but if it resonates with you, or you know who it belongs to, please email me.

Spirits up close and personal

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

I have a lot of very vivid dreams.  According to reference.com, you could call them lucid dreams, because I am active participant.  I’m more comfortable calling them spiritual experiences, because that’s what they are for me.  There are places I go, people I meet and talk with, all kinds of things, and the experience of it is pretty similar to normal waking experience.

This morning, I went to a large building on a campus.  The buildings were sandstone brown and reminded me of the University of Buffalo where I went to college.  I was standing on a porch next to an elevator and was observing the architecture of it.  It was unusual because there were multiple floors and the porches were stacked up in the same part of the building (like patios on a large apartment building) but you could still see the sky above perfectly well.  It was like you could look above you and see right through the porch to the sky, even though the porch was there.  I was with some people, but don’t have any specifics.  I’ll bet I was learning something there.  It’s not unusual for me to get some kind of school or education reference when they’re teaching me something.  But you almost never consciously learn of what they’re teaching you.  It’s paradoxical to some extent, but that’s how it works.

I also meet spirit folks via dream experiences.  Spirits are normally very protective of their personal identities, not out of greed, but out of fear that we will react poorly and treat them in less than ideal ways.  My approach has always been that they are people just like anyone else, and I treat them that way.  Over time, it has fostered a lot of trust and good will.

At the “school”, my car was in the lot somewhere and I had the keys, but didn’t know where it was parked.  I was stuck, and needed a ride back to Rochester.  A nice lady stood in front of me and said she would give me a ride.  I asked to be sure she was going that way, and she said she was.

She was directly in front of me.  She was in her 50’s or so.  I could clearly see her face, nice hairdo that was a little bit bouffant, a black silk dress with a pattern on it, a necklace that was beaded but not pearls.  She likes the name MaryAnne, although it’s not hers.

I’ve had lots of folks like MaryAnne appear in my dream experiences over the years.  I’ve learned that because they trust me with their identities, I’m often the first one they show themselves to on a personal level.  From there, they often go off and work with others.

My view is that it’s a privilege, and I am honored.  I always like meeting new people and learning about them.  It’s nice to know that it works equally well on both sides of the fence.

Dreams vs. Spiritual Experiences

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Sometimes, dreams are dreams, other times, they’re spiritual experiences.  And maybe some other times, they’re both.  While dreams are one of the easiest ways for the spirits to reach us, it’s not easy to know whether the “dream” you had was a normal dream or a spiritual experience.  The way I think about it is to put “normal dream” on one side of a continuum, and “spiritual experience” on the other.  This leaves lots of room for interpretation and gray area in the middle, which is good because it’s largely a matter of interpretation to begin with.

While there are no hard and fast rules, there are indicators.  Here are some indicators that can help you determine which side of the continuum your “dream” is likely to be on.  These are in no particular order.  While more of them in one dream can be better, each can stand alone.

1. Independent conversation, that is, when someone is talking to you, or otherwise trying to tell you something.

2. Independent two-way conversation, i.e. when you’re talking back and forth with someone.

3. Unconventional physics.  When something runs contradictory to normal Earth plane physics as we know it.  The kind of stuff that leaves you puzzled, saying “how weird…”.  A car that runs  just off the ground, silently. (picture Luke Skywalker’s desert speeder).  Or an airplane flying with a wing tip only inches away from a brick building, moving perfectly and without disturbing anything else.  Do not conclude that this is only limited to such large and obvious things such as planes and cars.  Basically, if it’s physical in nature but not the way things normally work on the Earth plane, it fits.

4. Unconventional biology.  Animals and/or people who are different than typical Earth plane biology would indicate.  For example, people with pipe-thin legs and visible muscle strands with no skin on them.  Or fish that are only vaguely like Earth plane fish.

I expected the list to be longer, but it seems to cover things fairly well.  Clarity did not make the list, and you may find that surprising.  Clarity is nice to have, but it’s not a good indicator of a spiritual experience, in and of itself, most of the time.  You usually need something more to slide it towards the spiritual experience side.

The important part is getting a feel for what the dream conveys, whether it has high clarity or not.  I think clarity is overrated.  But it’s a lot of fun.  I’ve had dreams where I could walk, talk, and see just like day time.  Neat stuff.

Both the speeder and the airplane example come from “dreams” I had.  In the speeder experience, the vehicle was more like a World War II American half-track, but it moved quickly and silently about 5 feet off the ground, like Luke’s speeder.  In the dream, one of my spirit folks came zipping up to me, and we got in the vehicle and went zipping around through some open lands with gently rolling slopes.  In the airplane dream, one of my other spirit folks took me for a ride, and from the cockpit where I was, I could see the left wing as we were flying very close to a brick building.  The building was like an apartment complex I used to live in, classic red brick.  The wing was unusual in that it was more pointed and squared off than a conventional plane.  The tip of the wing was literally inches from the brick, and we moved silently along the course of the brick wall then went flying into another area of open land that was kept like a lawn, with a little bit of snow on it such that you could see the green grass peeking through the white snow in most of the area.

I’ve had plenty of other spiritual experiences while dreaming.  It’s fairly coincidental that the two I can recall both involve riding around, as most of them aren’t like that.  As these experiences come up over time, I’ll share them.
